OSCARS 2012

 Y por fin llegó el momento que todos estábamos esperando, la alfombra roja estaba a punto y los fotógrafos preparados para recibir a las grandes estrellas de Hollywood que iban desfilando hacia la gala número 84.

Los nominados están preparados y la suerte está echada. Los festivales anteriores hacían su quiniela, y parece que todos están de acuerdo en quienes son los ganadores este año.

A media noche comenzaban los premios de La Academia que otorgaría los galardones a los artistas más aclamados de la temporada.

En la categoría principal Meryl Streep subía eufórica al escenario a recoger su merecido oscar, y no es para menos, ya que la camaleónica actriz y eterna nominada no era galardonada desde 1982. Esta vez The Iron Lady la ha catapultado a lo más alto concediéndole el Globo de oro, BAFTA y Oscar a Mejor Actriz. 

 

En cuanto a mejor actor, una vez más y como en festivales anteriores la revelación francesa Jean Dujardin obtuvo la estatuilla por su papel en The Artist que no ha dejado a nadie indiferente. Además The Artist obtuvo 5 estatuillas otorgadas en las categorías de mejor película y mejor director entre otras.

 

En cuanto a los secundarios, la espléndida Octavia Spencer recogía el premio a mejor actriz por su papel en Criadas y señoras y el emblemático Christopher Plummer se llevaba la estatuilla a mejor actor por Beginners.

Por último cabe destacar el nuevo trabajo de Scorsese y la fantástica historia de Hugo a quien se le ha concedido la mejor cinematografía y dirección de arte entre otros galardones.

Y el guión original es para la noche parisina que describe Woody Allen en Midnight in Paris, un trabajo muy bien narrado por este excéntrico director que siempre sorprende a su audiencia con la chispa de sus diálogos.

OSCARS 2012

At least the big night came, the red carpet is ready and the photographers too to received all cinema stars that were assisting to the 84^th Academy Awards.

Nominees are prepared and expectant. Who will be the winner? It seems like everyone knows who the favourites of the year are as we have seen in other festivals.

At midnight the function begins giving the awards to the most acclaimed actors of the season.

In the main category, Maeryl Streep go on stage very excited for winning the Best Actress Award for her role in The Iron lady; the chameleonic star and eternal nominee didn’t won since 1982. This year, her work has been prized with a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and the Oscar for playing Margaret Thatcher's biography. 

In male category, once again, as in all festivals Jean Dujardin won the statue for his brilliant role played as George Valentine in The Artist. Film which won 5 Oscars included The Best film and Soundtrack awards.

In the Best Supporting Actress the winner was de splendid Octavia Spencer for The Help and the emblematic Christopher Plummer gets the Oscar for Beginners.

Finally, the fantastic Hugo, new Scorsese’s work has won 5 Oscars including cinematography and art direction ones.

The screenplay award was for the Parisian night of Woody Allen in Midnight in Paris, a wonderful work like in all Allen’s work surprise the audience with the sparkly dialogue.

BAFTA 2012, LOS OSCAR DE GRAN BRETAÑA

El pasado 12 de febrero tuvo lugar la tan esperada gala de los premios BAFTA, considerados los Oscar del cine británico, que posiblemente reflejaría lo que pasará este domingo en los Oscar.

 

La ganadora absoluta de la noche fue The Artist, a la que se le otorgaron 7 estatuillas de las 12 a las que optaba, incluyendo el premio a la mejor película.

 

Meryl Streep una vez más brilló con luz propia por su increíble papel en ‘La dama de hierro’ y se llevó el galardón británico a mejor actriz. ¿Será también la que se lleve la estatuilla a casa este año?

 

 En la categoría masculina quien obtuvo el premio a mejor actor, al igual que pasaba con los globos de oro de este año, fue el francés Jean Dujardin por su impecable interpretación en The Artist.

Michel Hazanavicius subía al escenario para recoger el premio a mejor director por The Artist, que parece haber enamorado a todos este año.

En este festival, ganador y también muy aclamado fue Senna en la categoría documental, quien se llevó dos BAFTA, a mejor película documental y a mejor montaje.

BAFTA 2012, THE BRITISH OSCARS

On February 12th took place the BAFTA awards festival, the British Oscars, which maybe was the prediction of what will happen this Sunday in the Oscar ceremony.

The absolute winner was The Artist, which got 7 awards of the 12 which was nominated, including the Best Film Award.

Meryl Streep once again got the Best Actress Award for her role in The Iron Lady. Will she get the Oscar too?

In male category the Best Actor Award went to the same Golden Globe winner Jean Dujardin for his brilliant play in The Artist.

Michel Hazanavicius went up on stage to pick the Best Director Award for The Artist that seemed to be the favourite this the year.

Senna in the documental category was very popular on the festival and a winner too. It got two BAFTA, Best Documental Film and Best Editing.

LOS GLOBOS DE ORO, ¿PRONÓSTICO PARA LOS OSCAR?

La 69 edición de los Golden Globe Awards parece que no ha dejado a nadie indiferente, galardonando por fin trabajos dignos de Hollywood y no lo que estos últimos meses ofrecía la cartelera cinematográfica con largometrajes casi de serie B, ¿será éste un festival premonitorio para lo que nos espera la noche de los Oscar?

Por fin podemos ir poniéndonos al día para la gran noche del 26 de febrero, tenemos opciones para todos los públicos, una mágica sesión de cine mudo con The Artist, una dosis de drama con La dama de hierro y un exquisito musical de la sensual Marylin Monroe con My week with Marylin.

 

Se presentaban grandes films con grandes intérpretes. George Clooney y Meryl Streep, artistas consagrados en el gremio, recogieron su merecido galardón. Streep recogió su octavo globo de oro, ¿se llevará este el año también el oscar a casa?

En cuanto a mejor película, el drama es para Los descendientes, en el que Clooney interpreta a un padre en apuros tras la repentina muerte de su mujer, y la comedia es para The Artist, en la que vuelve el cine mudo en blanco y negro con este largometraje impecable.

Woody Allen fue galardonado a mejor guión por Midnight in Paris, lo que no sorprende, ya que si en algo tiene talento es en crear guiones brillantes que aunque no gusten a todos hay que reconocer que derrochan talento.

Por último hay que destacar que el premio Cecil B. DeMille fue para el gran Morgan Freeman, un incondicional de la gran pantalla.

GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS, GOING FOR THE OSCAR

The 69^th Golden Globe Awards edition has left no indifference with its results, awarding the last brilliant works of Hollywood, not what we have seen on cinemas a few months ago. Maybe this was a pool for the Oscar…

Now we can catch up for The Night, February 26^th, when the Academy Awards will take place. There are lots of films; films for all audiences. The magic of a silent movie seeing in the Artist, a drama film in The iron Lady or the musical life of the sexy Marylin Monroe are strong candidates for winning the award.

Great films with great actors have been presented; George Clooney and Meryl Streep, consecrated icons, won the deserved statue. Streep pick her eighth Golden Globe, the Oscar will be for her too this year?

The best film award went to The descendants, in which Clooney plays a father in troubles since his wife's death. In comedy The Artist was the absolute winner, it is such a brilliant black and white silent film.

Woody Allen got the Globe to best screenplay for Midnight in Paris. It was not a surprise though he is the creator of authentic masterpieces.

Finally we have to highlight the Cecil B. DeMille award given to the great Morgan Freeman, a cinematographic legend.

ROAD TO THE EMMYS 2011

El próximo domingo día 18 de Septiembre se entregarán en Los Ángeles los premios Emmy que concede la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias de la Televisión Americana a las mejores series estadounidenses.

Cuentan ya con su edición número 63 y será presentada por Jane Lynch, ganadora de un Emmy a mejor actriz secundaria en la serie Glee.

Los nominados de este año a mejor serie dramática cuentan con dos nuevos participantes Game of Thrones (13 nominaciones) y Boardwalk Empire (18 nominaciones).

Estas dos nuevas series que entran con muchísima fuerza tendrán que competir con las veteranas, Mad Men (13 Emmys), Dexter (4 Emmys), Friday Night Lights (1 Emmy) y The Good Wife que en su segundo año de emisión acumula 18 nominaciones y un Emmy a mejor actriz de reparto para Archie Panjabi.

En cuanto a mejor serie de comedia nos encontramos con The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Modern Family, The Office, Parks & Recreation y 30 Rock. Esta categoría está monopolizada por Tina Fey, productora, creadora y actriz de 30 rock que ya posee 14 Emmys en sus cinco temporadas.

En las candidaturas individuales la sorpresa masculina puede llegar de la mano de Steve Buscemi con su papel de político corrupto y gangster en Boardwalk Empire. Esta es su cuarta nominación pero de momento no se ha llevado ningún premio para casa. En esta categoría se ha colado Timothy Olyphant (Justified), primera nominación y ¿primer Emmy?

O quizá decidan reconocer el magnífico trabajo de Michael C. Hall que después de cinco nominaciones por su papel en Dexter todavía no le han dado el premio a mejor asesino de criminales, perdón, a mejor actor principal. Lo mismo ocurre con Hugh Laurie, siete nominaciones, ningún premio. O Jon Hamm seis nominaciones y cero galardones (Mad Men)

Puede que la culpa sea de Bryan Cranston que lleva tres años seguidos ganando el premio a mejor actor por Breaking Bad. (Menos mal que no está nominado este año porque se lo volvería a llevar. Espectacular Actor, espectacular serie)

En el apartado femenino tenemos 3 pesos pesados. Kathy Bates (Harry’s Law), Mariska Hargitay, (Law & Order) y Julianna Marguiles, (The Good Wife); Estas dos últimas obtuvieron un Emmy por Ley & Order en el 2006 y ER en 1995 respectivamente.

En la categoría de comedia, los actores que tienen todas las papeletas para llevarse el premio son, Steve Carell (The Office), los chicos de The big Band Theory o Alec Baldwin (30 Rock). Este último ya lleva dos Emmys y probablemente este año se vaya de vacío. En cuanto a las chicas será una bonita batalla ya que entre las nominadas suman 15 premios. Hay una nueva incorporación a la lista Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly) y para Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope) es su segunda nominación pero todavía no ha conseguido el premio. La suerte está echada. ¡Hagan sus apuestas!

ROAD TO THE EMMYS 2011

This Sunday 18th it will take place the Emmy Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles. These awards define the best TV series given by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The winner of last year Best Supporting Actress Jane Lynch (Glee) will present the 63rd Emmy edition. This time nominees for Best Drama Series have two new rivals: Game of Thrones (13 nominations) and Boardwalk Empire (18 nominations). Both of them compete bravely with the veterans Mad men (13 Emmys), Dexter (4 Emmys), Friday Night Lights (1 Emmy) and The Good Wife with 18 nominations and the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress Category to Archie Panjabi.

The Comedy Category is a battle of Titans in which compete The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Morden Family, The Office, Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock. The Queen for this section is Tina Fey, producer and actress of 30 Rock that has 14 Emmys in its 5 seasons.

Individual Categories may surprise us with Steve Buscemi in men section for his role as corrupt politic and gangster in Boardwalk Empire (This is his fourth nomination within prize). The new talent here is Timothy Olyphant (Justified), first nomination and Emmy?

Or maybe The Academy will recognize Michael Hall work after five nominations (Dexter) to the best assassin killer, sorry the best drama actor. The same happens with Hugh Laurie, 7 nominations – 0 Emmys, or with Jon Hamm 6 nominations – No Emmys (Mad Men).

We should blame for this to Bryan Cranston for winning for 3 years the Emmy the best drama actor (Breaking bad), thankfully this time he is not in the list because he will get the prize this year too. Best actor, best series ever).

On women category there are three master Queens: Kathy Bates (Hary’s Law), Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order) and Julianna Marguiles (The Good Wife). In 1995 the last two get the Emmy for Law & Order and ER.

The comedy category will be very interesting for men, all of them deserve this Emmy: Steve Carrel (The Office), The Big Bang Theory guys or Alec Baldwin (30 Rock). Baldwin has already 2 prizes so maybe this year will not get one. On the other hand, a beautiful battle will take place for women; the nominees add up to 15 prizes. A new talent is on the list Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly) and this is the second nomination for Martha Plimpton that has no prize yet.
